BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Union College bolstered its frontline with the recent addition of middle blocker/middle hitter Courtney Compton of Somerset, Ky.

"I am very pleased to be able to have Courtney join our program," said first-year Union coach Whitney Erb. "She will provide us another person up the middle, giving us more depth at that position and giving us a stronger presence at the net."

The 6-foot-1 Compton was a two-time team captain at Southwestern Pulaksi High, helping the Lady Warriors to a 29-9 mark in 2007 and a 33-6 record in 2006. A three-time All-District selection, Compton led the team in blocks in 2005 and 2006 as well as landed on the All-Region Team in 2007.

The Lady Bulldogs set a school record with 34 wins en route to the program's first Appalachian Athletic Conference regular-season title this past season. Union finished the 2007 campaign with an overall record of 34-15 and 16-2 in conference play.
