
BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – In the latest NAIA Region XII softball rankings, released Monday, Union College went from third two weeks ago to fifth, the association announced.
Union concluded the regular season with a third-place finish in Appalachian Athletic Conference play with a 10-6 record. The Lady Bulldogs own an overall record of 19-25 entering the postseason.
The Lady Bulldogs start the AAC Tournament Wednesday with a 3:30 p.m. contest against sixth-seeded King (Tenn.) College. The two split a doubleheader in Barbourville on April 12. Union took the opening game 7-1 and King evened the series with a 6-1 victory.
Milligan (Tenn.) College, the AAC regular-season champion, holds the top spot once again, followed by AAC runner-up, UVa-Wise. A pair of Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference teams follow with Mountain State (W.Va.) third and Indiana University Southeast fourth.
Tennessee Wesleyan College starts the next five, followed by King, Covenant (Ga.) College, Brescia (Ky.) University and Virginia Intermont College from seventh to tenth.
There will be one more set of region rankings released for the 2008 season on May 5.
