BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – Roberto Bertholo is the latest addition for the Union College swimming program as the Bulldogs add the international standout.
The Rio de Janeiro, Brazil native is a graduate of Colegio Santa Monica. He was a part of the Clube de Regatas do Flamengo. Luis Flavio Provencano is his current club coach.
Other than being a part of the Union swim team, he will play the guitar with Union's pep band.
In Brazil, he was a member of the 200-meter freestyle relay junior national championship team. Individually, Bertholo placed fifth at the national level in the 50 freestyle. He was also a second-place finisher in the 50 freestyle in the Junior Southeast Zones twice.
"Roberto is a natural swimmer," Union head coach Rafael Forti commented. "His swimming background and experience will be very helpful on making him adjust from short and long course meters to short course yards."
The Bulldogs finished this season at the NAIA Swimming and Diving National Championship with a 14th-place finish.
