
KINGSPORT, Tenn. - There have been a number of time changes for the first and second rounds for the NAIA Region XII Baseball Tournament, the organization announced Tuesday.
Union College, the No. 2 seed, will open play Wednesday against No. 5 Indiana University Southeast at 1:30 p.m., two hours earlier than originally scheduled.
The next first-round game pits No. 3 King (Tenn.) College (31-16 overall) and No. 4 UVa-Wise (29-21 overall) at 5 p.m. Tennessee Wesleyan College (41-15 overall) is the top-seeded team and will face No. 6 Brescia (Ky.) University (22-28 overall) Wednesday at 8 p.m.
Union (40-14 overall) played three games against Indiana Southeast (31-22 overall) during the regular season, winning all three by the scores of 10-4, 9-0 and 18-8 on Feb. 8 and 9.
Thursday's action will begin at 12 p.m. with the Union-Indiana Southeast winner taking on the King-UVa-Wise winner. At 3:30 p.m., the Tennessee Wesleyan-Brescia winner will play the King-UVa-Wise loser, while the Tennessee Wesleyan-Brescia loser playing the Union-Indiana Southeast loser at 7 p.m.
The winners' bracket finale is slated for 12 p.m. Friday with losers' bracket contests set for 3:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.
The championship game is scheduled for 12 p.m. Saturday. The region champion will advance to the South Central Super Regional to play the Region XI champion. The Super Regional champion earns an automatic berth to the NAIA World Series in Lewiston, Idaho.
Union won the 2007 NAIA Region XII Tournament as the No. 4 seed.
