
MOBILE, Ala. - No. 23 Union College will open the 2008 NAIA Women's Tennis National Championship Tournament against in-state rival Georgetown (Ky.) College, the NAIA announced Wednesday.
The tournament is being held at the Mobile Tennis Center in Mobile, Ala., on May 12-16. All matches will begin at 9 a.m. Central. Union and Georgetown will square off Monday, May 12.
Union has not played Georgetown since the Lady Bulldog program was reinstated as a intercollegiate program in 2006.
If victorious, Union will face No. 3 seed Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) College. Union lost 6-2 during the regular season. Also, Lindsey Wilson ended Union's season in 2007 with a 5-0 decision in the Sweet Sixteen of the NAIA National Championship Tournament.
Union is 14-4 on the year and making its second consecutive trip to the national tournament. Georgetown owns a 12-7 overall mark and ranked 14th in the NAIA.
