NEW ALBANY, Ind. - Union College saw its season come to a close Saturday as second-seeded UVa-Wise handed it a 7-2 defeat in the losers' bracket final of the NAIA Region XII Softball Tournament.

No. 5 seed Union ends the season with a 24-29 overall record. Despite the losing mark, the 24 wins are second-most in program history.

UVa-Wise (28-17 overall) moves on to the championship game to face tournament host Indiana University Southeast at 12 p.m. Since it came out of the losers' bracket, UVa-Wise must defeat Indiana Southeast twice.

This marks the second year in a row Union placed third in the region tournament.
