BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – North Laurel High School's Melanie Hester has signed to continue her soccer career at Union College.
The midfielder was a team captain last season as North Laurel won the 31st District title and was the runner-up in the 16th Region. North Laurel saw 2007 come to an end with an 11-10-1 record under head coach Naomi Puskar. She also was a part of North Laurel's track and field team.
She scored two goals and added six assists during her senior year. In 2006 as a junior, Hester recorded four goals with five assists.
Hester was a member of the Nike Kentucky Rush premier team coached by Union head coach Jason Lanham.
The Lady Bulldogs of Union finished 2007 with a 7-8-2 overall record after the a loss in the Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament semifinals. Union posted a 3-3-1 conference record for a fifth-place finish in the AAC.
