
BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - The Union College Sports Information Office garnered a total of nine awards as part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics-Sports Information Directors of America (NAIA-SIDA) Publications Contests.
The awards were announced during the NAIA-SIDA Convention on June 28 at Jackson's Bistro in Tampa, Fla.
"I am very proud of our sports information office," said Union Director of Athletics Darin S. Wilson. "The quality of work that Sports Information Director Jay Stancil and Assistant Sports Information Director Gene Renfro is among the best in the country. Jay and Gene do an excellent job of promoting Union's athletic programs, and they are continually striving to do better."

Union's highest finish was in the Website Contest as www.ucbulldogs.com placed tied for second. Union was third in the Football Brochure Contest, tied for fourth the Softball Brochure Contest, placed seventh in the Men's Soccer Brochure Contest and eighth in both the Women's Soccer Brochure Contest and the Walt McAlexander Baseball Brochure Contest.
Stancil placed fourth and fifth in the Dr. W. Jack Bell Writing Contest for Season Preview/Review Stories. His season preview story on the 2008 Bulldog baseball team took fourth, while his preview on the 2007-08 Lady Bulldog basketball team earned a fifth-place showing. In the Dr. W. Jack Bell Writing Contest for Feature Stories, Stancil again placed fourth for his piece on Patrick O'Neal, who was a senior linebacker on the 2007 Bulldog football team.
In the past six years, the Union Sports Information Office has received a total of 38 NAIA-SIDA Publication Awards.
