BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Tamsin Petersen will swim with the Union College Lady Bulldogs this season. Petersen comes to Union from Johannesburg, South Africa.

She attended Crawford in South Africa and swam for Leanne Smith. Petersen was the team captain at Crawford. She was a part of the Sandton Seals Swimming Club coached by Simon Peterson as well. The newest Lady Bulldog will swim in the butterfly and individual medley events.

Petersen earned four medals at the SA Games in 2005 and qualified to swim at the SA Senior Nationals in 2006 and 2008. She added the Conacher Sports Woman of the Year honor last year.

"Tamsin brings a lot of swimming experience and a great potential on sprint events," said Union head coach Rafael Forti. "I see Tamsin being a great asset for our program, mainly on butterfly and IM events."

Forti also expects Petersen to add depth to Union's relay teams.

Union finished 21st at the NAIA Swimming and Diving National Championship in February.
