COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Union College cycling team rode off to an impressive start for the 2008 season in the cross country events on Saturday at the University of Missouri. Union was able to post seven Top-5 finishes including a win on the women's side.

Rachel Millsop (Little Rock, Ark.) won the women's expert cross country race in her first outing in a Union uniform.

On the men's side Union riders finished second through fifth in the expert division and three of the four had issues that slowed them down.

Zach Winn (Fort Hope, Canada) led four of the five laps but break trouble on the final lap moved him to second. Greg Gibson (Salt Lake City, Utah) suffered a flat tire in a third-place ride. German Bermudez (Louisville, Ky.) was the only Bulldog without an issue and he finished fourth. Brad Nelson (Carmel, Ind.) also had to fix a flat tire, but rebounded for a fifth-place finish.

In the Women's "B" Class, Sarah Seitz (Lexington, Ky.) and Emily Yeager (Dry Ridge, Ky.) finished fifth and sixth, respectively. Matt Nourmohamadi (Laguna Hills, Calif.) gave Union another Top-5 finish with a fifth-place ride on the men's side in the "B" Class. Zac Moore (Loveland, Ohio) suffered a broken chain and Sean Trinque (Burriville, R.I.) just missed a Top-10 finish.

Action continues on Sunday with the short track event.
