BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - The Union College volleyball team suffered a tough 3-0 loss against King (Tenn.) College in a home Appalachian Athletic Conference match Tuesday.

Union suffered losses of 26-24, 25-18 and 25-21 in the three sets.

Stephanie Pateman (Weyburn, Canada) led the Union offense with 10 kills and Monica Moreland (Louisville, Ky.) was credited with 24 assists. Sarah Alderson (Birmingham, Ala.) and Christina Prindle (Florence, Ky.) recorded 11 digs apiece. Freshman Amelia Cantrell (Georgetown, Ky.) recorded four total blocks.

After the match, Union moved to 5-4 on the year and 1-2 in the AAC. King went to 4-4 and 2-1 in conference play. The game featured the top two teams from the AAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, with King as the preseason favorite and Union second.

Next on the schedule for Union is a pair of conference road contests. The first is at Bluefield (Va.) College on Friday at 7 p.m. followed by an 11:30 a.m. game at UVa-Wise on Saturday.
