BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - The Union College duo of Stephanie Pateman and Monica Moreland garnered Appalachian Athletic Conference volleyball honors, the organization announced Monday.

Pateman, a senior from Weyburn, Canada, was named the hitter of the week for the first time in 2008. Moreland, sophomore from Louisville, Ky.,collected the conference's setter of the week award for the second straight week.

Pateman totaled 19 kills in Union's two matches last week. Her 10 kill effort at Tennessee Wesleyan was the sixth double-digit kill total of the season. With six aces against Virginia Intermont College, she tied her career high. For the week, Pateman had a .375 hitting percentage. She currently leads the team with 108 kills.

Moreland accounted for 65 assists in two matches during the week. She collected 33 assists at Tennessee Wesleyan College, which marked a season best for Moreland. In all, she totaled 14 digs with six kills and served three aces over the six sets.

Union went 2-0 during the week and both were 3-0conference sweeps. The wins improved Union's record to 9-4 overall and 5-2 in conference play.

The Lady Bulldogs travel to play at Milligan (Tenn.) College Thursday for a 6:30 p.m. conference contest.
