MONTREAT, N.C. - Senior Stephanie Pateman etched her name into the Union College volleyball record book Saturday and Christina Prindle added to her single-match digs record in the Lady Bulldogs' 3-1 Appalachian Athletic Conference win at Montreat (N.C.) College.
Pateman (Weyburn, Canada) passed teammate Marlee Cooper (Bloomington,Ill.) in Saturday's contest. Pateman's 22 kills are a season best and two away from tying her career high in a match. She now has 1,467 kills over her career at Union. Pateman also collected the conference's hitter of the week award on Monday.
Prindle (Florence, Ky.) also pushed her single-match digs record to 42 on Saturday. She set the previous mark at 37 last season against University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) in October.
Brooke Vinovich (Somerset, Ky.) tied her career best with 18 kills and her 21 digs are a career high for the junior.
Sophomore Monica Moreland (Louisville, Ky.) was credited with 44 assists with 16 digs for her sixth double-double of the season. Both are season best for Moreland, the current AAC Setter of the Week.
Autumn Combs (Florence, Ky.) registered three blocks and Meg Donnelly (Middletown, Ohio) served three aces.
Union won the opening set 25-20 before Montreat evened the score with a 27-25 second set win. The next two went to the Lady Bulldogs, 25-23 and 25-15.
The win improved the Lady Bulldogs' record to 11-4 overall and 7-2 in conference play. Union has reeled off six straight wins and all have been conference foes. Montreat moved to 5-4 in the AAC and 9-12 overall.
Union takes to the court again on October 3 at Covenant (Ga.) College for a conference tilt. The match is scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. start.
Lady Bulldog Notes
