BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - The Union College men's soccer team provided enough firepower for a 5-1 win over Kentucky Wesleyan College, a NCAA Division II team, Tuesday on Burch/Nau Field.
The scoring started in the sixth minute with a goal from Liam Johnson (East Yorkshire, England). Sideek Sanogo (Ivory Coast) provided the assist for the score.
Tyler Baker (Burlington, Ky.) added another Union first-half goal during the 27th minute after Marc Pierre (Haiti) gave him a pass.
Senior defender Taylor Lamblin (Danvile, Ky.) added his name to the score sheet with his first career goal three minutes into the second half. Baker was credited with the assist.
Jonathan Sutton (Portsmouth, England) answered a Kentucky Wesleyan goal with an unassisted score in the 67th minute of play. The final Union score came with two minutes left when Dan Holleran (England) found the back of the net. Pierre played the ball to Holleran for his second assist of the contest.
Kentucky Wesleyan used a Kevin Asbridge goal in the 65th minute to make the score 3-1 at that mark. David Shaw received the credit for the assist.
The Bulldogs' improved to 8-2-2 on the year. Kentucky Wesleyan went to 0-9.
Union jumps back into Appalachian Athletic Conference play on Oct. 11 with a trip to Covenant (Ga.) College. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
