DAYTON, Tenn. - The Union College volleyball team saw a seven-match winning streak snapped Saturday as Bryan (Tenn.) College won a key Appalachian Athletic Conference contest with a 3-1 score at Bryan.
The first two sets went to Bryan with scores of 25-13 and 25-19. Union took the third set 25-19, but Bryan rebounded for a 25-18 decision in the fourth set.
With the results, Union moved to 8-3 in the conference and 12-5 overall. Bryan went to 9-1 in the AAC and 15-3 overall.
The Lady Bulldogs hold third place in the conference standings, 1.5 games ahead of Montreat (N.C.) College. Bryan and King (Tenn.) College both have one loss atop the standings. King currently holds a 10-1 conference record.
Monica Moreland (Louisville, Ky.) posted her eighth-straight 30 or more assist effort with 39 against Bryan.
The Union trio of Autumn Combs (Florence, Ky.), Stephanie Pateman (Weyburn, Canada) and Brooke Vinovich (Somerset, Ky.) all contributed 10 kills apiece.
Christina Prindle (Florence, Ky.) led the squad in the digs category with 16 and Vinovich followed with 14.
Combs added to her Union career blocks record with four in the contest.
Saturday's setback was the first road loss of the season for Union, now 6-1 in road contests.
Union returns home for a Tuesday contest against conference foe Tennessee Wesleyan College. The match is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start. The match will mark Union's first home contest since Sept. 16. Union won the first meeting of the season 3-0 in Athens on Sept. 18.

- Moreland surpassed the 400 assist mark on the season, with 434 so far.
- In four-set matches in 2008, Union is now 3-3.
- Vinovich holds onto a one-kill advantage of Pateman for the team lead, 164-163.
- Since the start of the 2007 season, Union has lost six matches to Bryan, including post-season play.
