BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - It's been a date circled on the calendar ever since the 2008 football schedule was released: October 11 - Union College versus University of the Cumberlands (Ky.).
Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m. at Burch/Nau Field in Barbourville, Ky.
The Union-Cumberlands game needs no hype, and this year's battle for the Brass Lantern - the series' traveling trophy, is no exception. In fact, a strong case could be made that this year's contest will be the biggest one ever in the history of the series.
Both teams enter the game ranked in the Top 20 in the NAIA and both are undefeated in Mid-South Conference East play.
Union is ranked No. 11, 5-0 overall for the first time in program history and 2-0 in league play. On the flipside, Cumberlands comes in with a 4-1 overall mark, 1-0 MSC East record and ranked No. 16.
