Jamie Engel joined the Union College volleyball program as an assistant coach during the summer of 2012.
Prior to coming to Union, Engel spent the previous three season coaching at the high school level in Chattanooga at Notre Dame and Chattanooga Christian high schools as well as serving as a head coach for the Choo Choo City VBC. In addition to her coaching duties, she has worked at many summer volleyball camps throughout the southeast part of the country and near her home in St. Louis, Mo., area as a guest instructor and coach.
A graduate of the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga with a bachelors in sports administration, Engel was a starting outside hitter for the Mocs and head coach Lisa Rhodes from 2006-07. An all-around player at UTC, she helped the Mocs lead all NCAA Division I schools in digs with a 3.16 per game average in 2007 and finished her senior year as one of the nation's top servers in aces per game average. Prior to going to UTC, Jamie played at Lincoln Land College in Springfield, Ill., where she finished in the top 25 in the nation for junior colleges in kills, digs and aces and helped her team reach a top 10 national ranking. Engel was also a member of the school's basketball team.
Engel comes from Troy, Ill., and graduated from Triad High School where she was all-conference in volleyball, basketball and track for the Lady Knights. After her senior year at Triad, she was named to the Illinois High School All-State volleyball team. Engel was a member of the powerful Southwest Illinois Volleyball Club for four seasons, helping her team to many tournament wins and national appearances during her prep years.
