Tommy Reid Image
Tommy Reid - Head Coach

Entering his seventh full season as the Union College head football coach, Tommy Reid is beginning his 13th season overall with the program.

Reid is the seventh head coach for the Bulldogs since Union reinstated football as a sponsored sport in 1984, and he is the 10th different person to lead the team during the 46-year history of the program.

As the Bulldogs' head coach, Reid has compiled an 22-47 overall record. Reid has had two players earn NAIA All-American Honorable Mentions during his tenure, while two others were named a NAIA First Team All-American by Don Hansen's National Weekly Football Gazette. Additionally, three more were selected for the Third Team with 16 more earning NAIA All-American Honorable Mentions in Don Hansen's National Weekly Football Gazette. Eight players were honored by Victory Sports Network with two landing on the Second Team, one making the Third Team, two on the Fourth Team and three others as honorable mentions. Additionally, 21 players have been named to the Mid-South Conference First Team under Reid's watch.

In addition to the head coaching duties, Reid is the team's offensive coordinator and the offensive line coach. He also serves the Union Department of Athletics as an assistant athletic director.

Prior to becoming the head coach, Reid served as the team's defensive coordinator and special teams coordinator for two-plus seasons. He has been at Union since the 1996 season when he joined the staff as a graduate assistant. Before his arrival in Barbourville, Reid coached one year at Glenville State (W.Va.) College, his alma mater.

At Glenville State, Reid was a three-year starter, being named an All-Conference Honorable Mention following his sophomore and junior seasons. He had a solid senior campaign, earning All-Conference First Team honors. Reid helped Glenville State to the NAIA Division I championship game in 1993 and was a member of Glenville State's playoff team in 1994.

In 2004, Reid was inducted into the Vinton County (Ohio) High School Athletic Hall of fame.


Travis Bethel Image
Travis Bethel - Assistant Coach

Travis Bethel is beginning his second season and will coach the Union defensive backs.

In 2007, Bethel headed up the safeties.

A five-year member of the Bulldogs, Bethel helped anchor the team's defense as a linebacker as he played for Union from 2001-05, missing the 2002 season due to injury. Bethel amassed 194 total tackles with 20.5 going for a loss. He also had 6.5 sacks, five fumble recoveries and three interceptions in his career.

In 2005, Bethel was tabbed as a First Team All-Mid-South Conference East selection. He was a Secnod Team All-MSC Team member in 2004.

Bethel is a native of Allensville, Ohio.


John Gray Image
John Gray - Assistant Coach

John Gray is beginning his fifth season at Union, serving as the defensive line coach. In 2004, he headed up the linebacking corps.

The Union defense limited opponents to 232 points in 2006 - the 10th lowest point total allowed in program history.

The Danville, Ky. native received his Bachelor's from the University of Tennessee at Martin in August of 2004. He played four seasons (1999-03) for the Skyhawks and was a team captain in 2003.


Marco Knorr Image
Marco Knorr - Assistant Coach

Marco Knorr is entering his fourth season -- third consecutive, with the Bulldogs, although there was a span of two years between his years of service at Union. He will once again be the quarterbacks and wide receivers coach for the 2008 squad while adding special teams to his duties

Prior to returning to Union, Knorr spent 2005 as the running back coach of the Colonge Centurions of NFL Europe. In spring of 2006, he served as both the running back coach and the special teams coordinator of the Centurions.

In 2004, he served as the Bulldogs' passing game coordinator.

Before coming to Union the first time, Knorr was the running back coach at Illinois Wesleyan University for two seasons. He also spent time in Germany playing and coaching on the Kiel Hurricanes, a semi-pro team.

Knorr played two seasons for Urbana (Ohio) University and finished his career at West Virginia University Tech. At Urbana, he was a Second Team All-Conference selection and named to Don Hansen's National Weekly Football Gazette's NAIA All-American Team as an honorable mention in 1999. Knorr received 2002 BB&T WVIAC Senior-Scholar Award while at WVU Tech.

He received his B.S. from WVU Tech in 2002 and his M.S. from Illinois State University in 2004.

Knorr is married to the former Kellie Smith. The couple has one daughter, Isabella.


Andre Linn Image
Andre Linn - Assistant Coach

Andre Linn is entering his eighth season as an assistant of the Bulldog football team.

This marks the sixth year in a row that Linn has served as the team's defenisve coordinator. In 2006, the Bulldog defense had three First Team All-Conference selections as it held opponents to just 232 points - the 10th lowest point total allowed in program history.

During his first two seasons, he served as the defensive line coach before coaching the linebackers and being named the defensive coordinator in 2003. In 2004, Linn was again the defensive coordinator along with coaching the defensive backs.

After directing the defensive backs in 2007, Linn returns to manning the linebackers, a duty he held during the 2005 and 2006 campaigns.

Prior to coming to Union in 2001, Linn spent two seasons as the defensive line coach at Randolph Macon (Va.) College. He spent one season at Juniata (Penn.) College as the offensive line coach.

Linn received his B.S. in Accounting from Juniata in 1998 and started three and a half seasons for the Eagles, earning First Team All-Conference honors in 1997. He received his M.A. in Education in 2002 from Union.

Linn is married to the former Amy Jo Killion.


Chris Murphy Image
Chris Murphy - Assistant Coach

Chris Murphy is embarking on his first season on the Union coaching staff as he will assist with the offensive line.

A four-year member of the Bulldogs, Murphy was a vital member of the offensive line. In 2007, he helped lead the way up front as the Union offense set numerous offensive records such as most passing yards (3,461), passing touchdowns (27) and first downs (248).

Murphy originally hails from Louisville, Ky.


Patrick O'Neal Image
Patrick O'Neal - Assistant Coach

Patrick O'Neal is entering his first season on the Bulldog coach staff as he will be responsible for directing the safeties.

O'Neal recently completed a very prolific career at Union. A four-year starter at linebacker, O'Neal finished his career as the program's second all-time leading tackler with 390 total tackles. In 2007, he set the single-season tackles record with 143 while twice tying the single-game mark with 20. O'Neal recorded 20 stops in his final game in a Union uniform as the Bulldogs defeated Georgetown 28-21, marking the first time Union beat the Tigers since 1938.

A three-time All-Mid-South Conference First Team selection, O'Neal was twice named to the Victory Sports Network NAIA All-American Second Team. He also was named a MSC and NAIA Defensive Player of the Week once.

O'Neal also excelled in the classroom, making the Academic All-Conference Team three times, earning Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors twice and landing the 2007 ESPN the Magazine CoSIDA Football Academic All-America Second Team.

O'Neal is a native of Lula, Ga.


Shaun Person - Assistant Coach

Shaun Person is in his fourth season as a member of the Bulldog coaching staff and will be directing the running backs.

During his tenure as the running backs coach, Person has had one back amass over 1,300 yards.

A 2004 graduate of Union, Person was a four-year member of the Bulldog football squad as a wide receiver and was a team captain in 2003.

Person is a native of Brantley, Ala.


Todd Miracle - Student Assistant

Todd Miracle is entering his second season as a member of the Bulldog coaching staff.

Miracle was a member of the staff for the 2006 campaign, directing the tight ends.

No stranger to coaching or the game, Miracle spent four years as an assistant at Bell County (Ky.) High School. A graduate of Bell County, Miracle earned All-District and All-Region honors during his tenure and was named the Best Offensive Lineman.

Miracle is a native of Pineville, Ky.
