Jonathan Shaw, a former Union College standout goalie, enters his second season as an assistant coach in the Bulldogs men's soccer program.
Shaw, a native of Merseyside, England, comes into the coaching profession after an outstanding four-year career in Tyler Brock's program at UC.
In his senior season of 2010, Shaw was named to the All-AAC First Team at goalkeeper for the second straight year. In his career, he was named NAIA National Player of the Week on two occasions (is the only player in program history to do so), and was a three-time AAC Defensive Player of the Week.
Shaw also etched his name into the Union College record books, as he holds the program record for shutouts in a career (17), and is tied for first in shutouts in a season (7). which he set in 2009.
Before coming across the pond to Union, Shaw played for the Tranmere Rover's School of Excellence, and the Chester City School of Excellence and youth team during his up bringing. He also had trials for two illustrious club teams in Everton and Stockport County.
Shaw graduated from Union in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science degree, and holds an FA Coaching Certificate. He's also currently working towards a Masters degree in Education at UC, and is also working on his USSF coaching license.
