Entering his 11th full season as the Union College head football coach, Tommy Reid is beginning his 17th season overall with the program.
Reid is the seventh head coach for the Bulldogs since Union reinstated football as a sponsored sport in 1984, and he is the 10th different person to lead the team during the 49-year history of the program.
As the Bulldogs' head coach, Reid has compiled an 44-69 overall record. Under his tutelage, Reid has had two AFCA NAIA All-American Team and two NAIA All-American honorable mentions. In addition, 17 players have been honored by Victory Sports Network with two making the First Team, four landing on the Second Team, one making the Third Team, two on the Fourth Team and eight others as honorable mentions.
Additionally, 36 players have been named to the Mid-South Conference First Team under Reid's watch with team receiving MSC Offensive Player of the Year honors three times and one collecting the MSC Defensive Freshman of the Year nod.
The 2008 season was Reid's best to date as Union posted a 9-3 overall record and advanced to the NAIA Football Championship Series for the first time in program history. The Bulldogs were ranked in the NAIA Top 25 most of the season and finished the year at No. 10.
In addition to the head coaching duties, Reid is the team's running backs coach.
Prior to becoming the head coach, Reid served as the team's defensive coordinator and special teams coordinator for two-plus seasons. He has been at Union since the 1996 season when he joined the staff as a graduate assistant. Before his arrival in Barbourville, Reid coached one year at Glenville State (W.Va.) College, his alma mater.
At Glenville State, Reid was a three-year starter, being named an All-Conference Honorable Mention following his sophomore and junior seasons. He had a solid senior campaign, earning All-Conference First Team honors. Reid helped Glenville State to the NAIA Division I championship game in 1993 and was a member of Glenville State's playoff team in 1994.
In 2004, Reid was inducted into the Vinton County (Ohio) High School Athletic Hall of fame.
Reid is married to the former Missy Hyde, and the couple resides in Corbin with sons Mitchell and Kenton.
