Gene Renfro is in his third year as the Assistant Sports Information Director.

Renfro, a native of Johnson City, Tenn., came to Union after serving six years in the Milligan (Tenn.) College sports information office.

Among his responsibilities, Renfro will assist in media relations for all 23 of Union's athletic programs as well as writing releases, compiling statistics, website maintenance and producing and publishing media guides. During his time at Union, Renfro helped the sports information office garner nine NAIA-SIDA Publication Awards.

Renfro earned his bachelor's from Milligan in May of 2005, having majored in communicants. In May of 2007, he earned his master's in sports management from East Tennessee State Univeristy.

He also teaches as an adjunct faculty member within Union's Department of English, Communication and Languages.

A member of both the NAIA-SIDA - the NAIA's Sports Information Directors Association and College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), Renfro has worked numerous collegiate and high school postseason tournaments since 2002 which includes working as a media site director for four NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships. In addition, Renfro has worked with two colleigiate summer league baseball teams as well as the Elizabethon Twins, a minor-league affiliate of the Minnesota Twins.
